Employee Code of Conduct
Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment
Creating a workplace where everyone is treated with respect and dignity is really important to us.
We have a strict “ZERO-Tolerance Policy” when it comes to:
- Discrimination
- Harassment
- Retaliation
In simple terms, we won’t tolerate any of these behaviors in our workplace.
Social Media / Cell Phone Policy
When it comes to social media and cell phones, we want you to remember that you represent The Citizen both during work hours and in your personal time.
Here are some important guidelines:
- When using social media, be mindful of what you post, especially when you’re inside the dispensary.
- Avoid sharing any information that could violate HIPAA regulations or pose security risks.
While you’re on the clock, it’s crucial to be present and focused on providing the best experience for our patients. To ensure this:
- Please refrain from using your personal cell phone in areas where you interact with patients.
- If you’re expecting an important call, just let your supervisor know in advance.
Non-Disclosure Agreement
Our success at The Citizen relies on keeping our confidential information under wraps.
Here’s what you need to know:
- It’s everyone’s job to make sure we keep this information safe.
- Be careful about what you talk about, especially when it comes to our proprietary information.
Employee Parking
Refer to the images below for the precise location of our designated employee parking area.

Badges
We want to make sure our dispensary is a safe place, so we require all employees to wear state-approved badges while they’re inside.
Here’s how it works:
- When you finish your shift, leave your badge at the dispensary. Security will give it back to you at the start of your next shift.
- This helps prevent any loss or theft of badges and makes things safer for everyone.
- If, by any chance, you lose your badge or it gets stolen, please let your supervisor know right away.
Uniforms / Personal Appearance
We want our employees to look and feel their best, so here’s what you can expect when it comes to clothing and appearance:
Clothing Provided:
- You’ll receive two Citizen T-shirts, one Citizen Zip-Up, and one Klutch T-Shirt & Hat.
- Security personnel will also get a Citizen jacket.
Personal Appearance:
- It’s important for all employees to be clean and well-groomed.
- Pay attention to your personal hygiene.
Dress Code:
- The clothes you wear should always project professionalism.
- Make sure your uniform is free of stains, pet hair, and wrinkles.
- Avoid ripped or offensive clothing, as well as athletic wear and sweatpants.
- Stick to neutral colors for undershirts or cardigans.
- Wear closed-toe shoes for safety.
Scheduling / Requesting Time Off
When it comes to scheduling and requesting time off, here’s how it works:
- Scheduling: Our managers aim to have schedules posted at least 4 weeks in advance, but it’s guaranteed to be posted at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
- Time Off Requests: If you need time off (PTO), you should request it before the schedule for that period is posted.
- Changes to Scheduled Shifts: Once the schedule is posted, any changes needed will require you to find someone to cover your shift. Your manager needs to approve this.
- Shift Change Requests: We have shift change sheets available for these requests.
- Time Off Availability: Please note that PTO requests are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. So it’s a good idea to request it as early as possible.
Attendance
When it comes to attendance, we’ve got some guidelines to follow:
- If You Can’t Make It: If you can’t come in for your scheduled shift, reach out to the Manager on Duty (MOD) and the General Manager as soon as possible.
- Running Late: If you’re running late, make sure to inform your manager ASAP and give them an estimate of when you’ll arrive.
- Starting Your Shift: Before you begin your shift, report to the Manager on Duty (MOD).
- Calling Off Three Times: If you need to call off work three times in a row, you’ll need to provide a doctor’s note.

Discipline Procedure
When it comes to our discipline procedure, we use something called an “occurrence tracking system” to keep track of employee corrective actions related to our expected standards of conduct.
Here’s how it works:
- Occurrences will stay on your record for 12 months from the date they are issued.
- For example, if you receive an occurrence on January 22, 2022, it will be removed from your record on January 23, 2023.
